Oriana exited the complex and looked in awe at the beautiful grounds. Snow decorated the ground and trees, reminding Oriana of all the winters back home. While she looked around, observing the different trees and paths, she absently felt in her pocket, recovering a pencil. She twisted her pony tail into a bun and used the pencil to secure it before she continued to walk. Most of the girls in her class seemed nice enough, and she really would like to get to know them better. Oriana stopped in a clearing and dropped to the ground, spreading her arms and legs making a snow angel.

Lilia loved snow. At home, for most of the Winter months, the ground had been covered in at least two inches of the cold, white stuff. She buttoned up her coat; knee length, white wool. It was her favourite item of clothing, besides perhaps the skirt she was wearing underneath; long and dark, with emroidered flowers, and of course, her dancing shoes.
She smiled and stepped outside, the snow covering the bottom of her boots. It wasn't as deep as some of the snow she had experienced, but it was still falling. Her hair tied in two wavy bunches, she ran through the snow, flakes falling on her head, getting caught on her long dark eyelashes. She stopped by another girl, who was making snow angels.
"Hello," Lilia said, smiling. "Snow is very nice, isn't it?" She didn't join the girl in making snow angels, because she didn't find it particularly fun, as she had made snow angels every winter of her life since she could remember, and she preferred taking ing the admirable beauty the weather brought, and perhaps having snowball fights.

"Yes it is, I have always loved the snow." Oriana smiled sweetly and carefully stood up, making sure that she didn't ruin the snow angel she had made. She knelt down beside it and drew a halo over the head, smiling like a kid when she did so. Finally she stood up and offered her hand to the new girl, "My name is Oriana, I have just arrived today."

Lilia smiled, pulling some white gloves with fake fur round the cuffs out of her pockets and putting them on. "Yes, I love the snow also. Where I am from, it snows a lot. Much more than this," she said, shaking hands with Oriana. "That is a very nice name. My name is Lilia. I am new also," she said, walking a little bit, catching snow from the plants in her small hands.

Oriana smiled, "Yes, I know the feeling. I grew up in a town by the mountains, so I am very used to lots of snow. Much more snow then this, could you imagine skiing on this?" She watched the girl catching the snow in her hand and smiled, "Lila is a nice name too. So, why did you come here? I'm a dancer, personally." Everyone in this school had to be talented in order to be allowed in, and Oriana was looking forward to finding someone with new talents so they could share their skills with each other.
(Sorry for not responding sooner, my friends and I ended up taking an improto road trip lol)

Sora was sitting on a ledge of a flower bed, that she recently brushed all the snow off. Her digital camera was hanging from her neck by the string that was attached to it.Her large blue eyes roamed the area, and a sigh came from her mouth."I am so bored...."she moaned, then her attention caught to the two girls talking. She grabbed her long, fuzzzy, pink coat tightly, with her fuzzy and pink gloves, and pushed it up against her chin for warmth. Her cheeks were flushed red,and her lips purple."Gosh its cod"she murmerd, her lips chattering together.

Oriana smiled at the girl who was joining them, and noted the camera that she wore around her neck. This girl must be part of the photography courses. "I guess it depends what you're used to, this is beach weather for me." Oriana joked, smiling and laughing lightly, "I am Oriana, and this is Lila. Both of us are brand new here, how about yourself?"

Lilia smiled. "I never skiied. I come from Russia, in a place where no mountains are. We just get lots of snow, sometimes even three feet. Once, I think there were four or five feet of snow, which is nearly as tall as I!" she said, getting some of her words mixed up. She shook her head. "No, no, Lilia, not Lila. Like flower lily, but with a 'a' at the end. And spelt different in middle too," she corrected, though she didn't like telling the other girl that she was wrong.
Lilia looked up to the sky, from which snow was still falling fast. "I come because I a dancer am also. I dance ballroom, latin american, ballet and tap. Though I can dance other things also. I become professional next year, maybe. What dance you do?" she asked, interested in meeting someone else who hopefully shared the same passion.
Lilia smiled at the newcomer. "Yes, it is not cold for me neither. Maybe at home we have temperature of minus twenty or thirty centigrade. If you wear clothes what is warm, it is alright." She smiled as Oriana introduced her, again getting her name slightly wrong. It was nothing really, but for some reason it annoyed her; she wanted to be known by her real name. "Lilia," she corrected softly, holding out her hand for the newcomer to shake.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that, Lilia." She corrected, blushing slightly at the mistake. People often got her name wrong, Oriana wasn't a very common name, and she knew how frusterating it could be when people would pronounce it wrong.
Oriana smiled and nodded as the girl listed off her dances, "Well, I do ballet, tap, celtic and belly dancing. I don't really like ballet and tap too much, but I almost have to do them if I want to become a good celtic dancer. I mean, it's not a requirment or anything, but practicing different dances really helps you improve your other dances. That's why belly dancing is my favorite, there's so few written rules. You can pretty much dance by feel if you want to." She stopped herself when she realised that she was rambling on about dance, something she often did. She stopped herself so that the other girls would have a chance to respond or add their own opinions.

Lilia smiled her warm smile that made her whole face light up. "It is no problem," she said. "That is how you say it, isn't it?" she added, not completely sure she had got all the colloquialisms. They were things she really wanted to be able to understand. She could get the rudiments of the language, it was just the funny sayings, colloquialisms and idioms that she didn't have a clue about.
"I have never had go at celtic or belly dancing. Maybe someday you have me to teach?" she suggested, eager to learn other sorts of dancing. "No, me not like ballet or tap that much neither. Ballet is better than tap though. I need to have ballet for ballroom dances and tap I need for Latin." She smiled, shrugging. "But I not mind really. I like to dance much for stopping them. Dance is my life. Is it yours?" she asked, stuffing her hands in her pockets again, realising that she was talking too much.

Oriana smiled and nodded her head enthusiastically, "If something happened and I couldn't dance I'd...well, I don't know what I'd do. I mean, dancing is a way to free your soul, have fun, and plus a nice workout." Oriana sighed as her hair managed to fall out of the lose bun she had put it in. Frusterated she pulled the pencil out and let the hair fall down before returning her attention to the others.
"So how did you get started in dancing? My mom signed me up for ballet and tap when I was young, but when I saw my first celtic and belly dancers I was hooked on those."

Lilia smiled. "Workout? Like exercise? That no bother me. I would just die if I not able to dance," she said. It was true. She didn't dance because it was good exercise. She danced because she loved it so much, and couldn't do anything else. Danicng was the only time when she was truly herself. The persona she had when she was with other people was just that; a persona. It was Lilia, but with a coating of icing on, so she could hide her true self, and just be Lilia on the surface.
"I started dance at when I was able to walk. I did ballet then, and maybe about three or four tap. I see concert with ballroom dance when maybe six, and I start that then, and Latin American also. So I been dancing almost all my life, and I not able to imagine doing anything else," she explained, but then blushed, because she felt that she was speaking too much again.

Oriana nodded, understanding completely, "All I mean by the workout was that it's nice for us because we don't have to run to the gym constantly trying to get into shape. It's an extra perk of loving dancing, that you get to excercise while having fun." Oriana fell silent again, not entirely sure of what to talk about. They had covered dancing and snow, and she wasn't sure what to say to this new girl. She was already relieved that she hadn't been shunned because she loved belly dancing, as many people would. Even people in her ballet class tried to tell her that Oriental Dance was trashy.
Despite Oriana's easy going attitude, it actually was tricky for her to talk with people. She never really cared too much what people thought about her, and she was always honest about what she thought about others. If some one made fun of her behind her back, she would approach them, correct what they said, and walk away with no hard feelings. Her first high school had been hard, though. Everyone made fun of her because she loved dance so much, and when they found out she was bi things got even worse. Oriana forced herself to focus on the present again and smiled at Lilia, "So did you have any brothers or sisters back home?"

Lilia frowned. "Okay, maybe I not understand proper. It happens because I not English speak well," she said, shrugging. It was an occupational hazard of living in a country where you didn't speak the lingo; you often got the wrong end of the stick entirely. However, this didn't bother Lilia, and she didn't really care if she didn't understand fully. "So, you is from America, yes?" she asked, loving the fact that people at this school came from all over.
Lilia's mind had wandered, and she brought herself back to the current time, unbuttoning her coat as she was warm. Living in a place where snowfall was regular, she was used to cold temperatures, and could cope with them. "No, I have no brother or sister. I had dog though, called Pavlov. You have sibling?"

Oriana smiled as she twirled her stray hair through her fingers, "Well, I am from North America, but more accurately I'm Canadian." She knew that many people did not consider America and Canada to be that different from each other, but she didn't care. She was quite proud to have grown up in a small town in British Columbia. She lived near the mountains in a small town with mostly friendly people.
"Well, my father has other kids, but I was raised by myself." That was the simplest way that Oriana could explain it. Talking about how her mother had gotten pregnant through a one night stand and refused the aid of the man who sired her child was not a good way to tart a conversation. Oriana wasn't ashamed that she grew up with only her mother, in some ways she was proud of it. It had taught her to be strong and be her own person.

Lilia nodded. She hadn't really grasped American geography, and was slightly confused. "Canada in North America, yes? Like United States, no?" she asked, just clearing things up, sorting out the random bits of unsorted information in her mind. There was so much that she knew, yet didn't know how it fitted in with the pure facts. Though she hated asking people to clear things up, it made things much easier.
Lilia frowned, and shrugged. "I not understand, but it no matter," she admitted. She didn't. There were some things that she just couldn't grasp, but it didn't bother her. She was very relaxed about her lack of language skills.
