It was a warm spring morning, with a soft breeze winding between the flowering trees of the GAA campus. Daphne sighed when the caressing touch of the wind played with her loose hair. She wore no jacket today- only her dismal new uniform and a camera around her neck. The camera was hand-me-down from both of her brothers as they went through their artistic phases in life. But Daphne had managed to keep her interests in photography. The want to quit hadn't hit her yet.
She now sauntered down the sidewalk, thinking of the month before when she was back at home. It had been just like old times. The family had crowded around their small wooden table for the Hawaiian feast Mrs. Reese had prepared on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day had been extremely rainy, as they lived in Hawaii. The scenery was a lovely sight after living at GAA for almost three months. Crystal drops of water bounced off of every surface outside the Church window, where the Reeses were attending a Christmas service. The palm trees and nearly rainbow-colored flowers glistened from the downpour. The rest of her visit had been wonderful. Daphne skated around town with her old friends and told them about all the girls at school. They went on wild adventures (So what if they were only around town?) with her good friend, Karina, snapping photos occasionally. She was the one who got Daphne into photography.
By the time Daphne had returned to school, a postcard had been sent from back home with a gorgeous landscape and Hula dancers in the background. It read:
Oahu: Wish You Were Here
For fear of crying, Daphne returned from thought and began taking pictures of everything around her- people, buildings, cars, nature.
