Alas, the GAA's modern student lounge. When Jude stepped inside the large room with its trendy design she felt her spirits lift. This place was stylish, definitely the environment Jude Skyler was use to. Clear circular chairs hung from chains in the ceiling. A white coffee table was decorated with the latest teen fashion magazines. Blues, reds, yellows, whites, and blacks colored the room on various rugs and standing lamps, making the student lounge quite bold-looking. There were even old-fashioned pinball machines lining the walls!
After examining the room with her glittering hazel eyes, Jude made her way to the small bar where a few girls sat and gossiped, and walked around the counter into the small kitchen space. Opening the refrigerator, she finally spotted a bag of ice. Yes! Whoot! She hollered, relieved. Her experienced hands quickly moved about the counter-top, preparing the drinks using the cocktail mix she'd brought along and the newfound ice. Pulling out the blender, she turned it on hastily, trying not to cause too much of a stir. The blunder roared violently, but it crushed the ice eventually. Jude put it away when she done, slightly embarrassed for the noise. Feeling accomplished, she handled the other girls their daiquiris in plastic Dixie cups. It was all they had behind the bar.

Lilia was feeling somewhat like a lost sheep. She had lost her sense of direction seconds after leaving the dorm room, and was now just following everyone else, like the afore mentioned sheep. It wasn't that she was just the kind of person that followed and never led, it was more the fact that this society was a strange place, and she wanted to make friends, integrate, be accepted, something which was difficult for her to do, after what had happened to her previously. So she just tagged along, looking bewildered and not really knowing what she was doing there.
She was so different to everyone else, and she felt this as soon as she entered the lounge. It was a large room, but so modern and chic, and so totally unlike Lilia. She was a small, bohemian Russian. She couldn't cope with chic and stylishness. She preferred neutral colours, colours where she could almost blend in. This was of course, with the exception of dance dresses. Dance dresses were a different story. When she was dancing, Lilia was willing to wear any colour imaginable, because it was more of an act. Bright, vibrant colours went well with her dark hair and slightly tanned skin, and so that was what she wore when dancing.
Sighing slightly, she walking over to the bar, where Jude was, the only person in the room she felt comfortable talking to. She sat on one of the chairs, pulling her legs up beneath her. She pushed her hair behind her ears and looked around with the air of a bewildered puppy, unsure what she should do.

Daphne had been following closely behind Jude as they headed to the Student Lounge. She felt a little classy, popular even, now that she was strolling along with Jude and Analiese. Of course, anybody new she met would be guaranteed to be alot classier than her old friends. They had burping contests for God's Sake. In her hometown, nobody knew about manners and really, nobody needed them. All the townspeople made a fairly low income so there were really no rich, high-class people to worry about impressing- unlike here, at the GAA.
Stepping through the Student Lounge's door, Daphne's heart skipped a beat suddenly. This place was amazing! It was so clean and fashionable looking! It was at that moment that Daphne realized that maybe she'd like GAA after all. Following Jude to the bar, she set herself on a stool and waited as the other girl prepared the cocktails, as promised. Growing excited about participating in a mature conversation over drinks, she began to tap her fingernails. Finally, Jude handed her a Dixie cup of strawberry daiquiri, and Daphne smiled sweetly.

Analiese entered the room, holding back a cringe from the sudden burst of...whatever it was decorating the room. It vaguely reminded her of a 1960's orgy room. Her eyes scanned the pile of magazines sprawled out on one of the tables. She casually picked up the latest issue of Vogue. It was American Vogue, but it would due unti lshe got her fashion magazine suscription address changed to her new dorm room for the school year.
Anbaliese eyed the Dixie cups full of a blend of daquiri mix and crushed ice. Quite honestly, it wasn't very appetizing to her. She reached into her bag, unzipping a small inside pocket to produce a few tea bags. She was quite fond of tea, epseically green tea which was what she was about to make for herself...and whoever else wanted. "Actually, I'm not much for virgin daquiris, so I'm going to make some green tea. You girls are welcome to it, if you'd like." she said as she headed over to the kitchen area and began to rummage through everything. She was sure there had to be teacups in there somehwere.

Daphne was somewhat disappointed in Analiese not accepting the drink. It would've been the icing on the cake if the girls could've sat down and got acquainted in a sophisticated matter over cocktails. But who was she kidding? This was only a boarding school. And she was, well... She was only Daphne, with not a high-class bone in her body.
Casually taking the Dixie cup, she tried it out and was surprised at how nicely the drink had turned out with only a simple mix and some ice. She'd never watched people make drinks before but she'd always figured that something more needed to be added or done to it. Beginning to spin on her stool next to Lilia, she put on a funny face, attempting to lighten the shy atmosphere by poking some antics at the girls. Before she could stop herself, daiquiri was accidentally spilled onto her sweatshirt. She cursed, exasperated, and reached over the counter for some paper towels. Being herself was going to be alot harder that she thought.

Lilia had found a dance magazine in the piles dumped on tables, and was somewhat absently flicking through it, understanding snippets, but finding the vast majority too difficult. To tell the truth, she wasn't one hundred percent sure what she was doing here. This just wasn't her scene. Looking at Jude, she smiled but politely refused her drink. She didn't know what on earth it was, and she had been taught not to accept things she didn't know, even when by someone like Jude.
Lilia put aside the magazine; the unfamiliar English too much for her. She looked around the room again. Analiese was making what she presumed to be tea. Analiese intimidated Lilia in a way. She was so cool, so sophisticated, that he presence made Lilia feel uncomfortable. Jude was still standing at the bar with the drinks hardly anyone seemed to want, and the other girl, who's name she couldn't remember, was being silly, and had jsut spilt her drink. "Are you alright?" Lilia asked, though she couldn't help thinking that it was the girl's own fault.

Since no one replied to her offer, Analiese placed only one mug of water in the microwave. Heating water on a stove would take far too long. Moments later, she removed her mug of now very hot water from the microwave and submerged a green tea bag.
"So where are you girls from?" she asked, trying to make small talk to "break the ice". That was such a cliche. She knew where Daphne was from already, and it didn't take a genious to figure out that Jude was from the sunny state of California and that Lilia was Russian. Analiese had been taught to make conversation, though, so this is what she was doing. She took a sip of her tea before letting Roxton out of her bag to wander around in the student lounge. She was sure no one would mind....too much.

Lilia sighed, sitting back in the chair and fiddling with a loose piece of cotton hanging from her jumper. To be honest, she was bored. She knew that the company of other people was meant to make her feel better, but it wasn't doing anything. She still felt awful, bewildered and just generally lost, and she certainly wasn't at ease with these strange girls. And they were very strange. She had not come across people anything remotely similar to these girls before, and it was wierd.
Lilia looked up at Analiese, the sophisticated one, spoke. "I come from Russia," she said quietly, sounding almost bored. She would have thought it pretty obvious. No where else had a similar accent to that the Russians had when speaking English, and she looked pretty Russian, that was for certain. "You is English?"

Jude set down the Dixie cups and sighed. So much for a daiquiris! She'd only spent about a half an hour searching for ice, but oh well. At least she was meeting people. The bored looks of the surrounding girls troubled Jude a bit. To all the fake Hollywood people, she'd always been entertaining. They would laugh with her, and relate with her. But none of these girls seemed to want to reach out and become better acquainted. I'll play someone in pinball. Jude suggested, attempting yet again at breaking the awkward barrier. Sipping the fruit concoction, her face twisted and her lips pursed at the taste of the sweetness. No more cheap cocktail packets for her!
After resetting her jaw back to its normal line as the drink finally slipped down her throat, she looked down at the carpet to look at what exactly was scurrying about. It was a tiny dog- Roxton as his name would come to be. He was Analiese and quite adorable. Jude admired the dog's confidence as it trotted about in a designer sweater. If only she could carry that kind of confidence to this new place as she sought for friendship.
