Plot/Intro: It is the year 1951. The Second World War has been over for six years, but people are still feeling the effects. For some, the changes on their families are too much for them to take. There is only one thing for them to do to get away; they go to sea.
The Queen Mary takes staff from the age of sixteen. Most females are stewardesses or cooks, but the men can be anything from a steward to a First Mate or Officer. Life on board is hard, but can be a lot of fun. You have to contend with difficult passengers, rough weather and animosity between crew members. But it is a great escape from post-war England and America, and can be a lot of fun for those young people on board.
The Queen Mary docks at Southampton, England, and New York, America. These two cities are very different, and for the young men and women, can be an adventure.
New York is rough. The place is run by gangs, guns and drugs. There are some safe places, but you have to watch your back if you go out at night. These people think nothing of rape or murder, in fact, it's their every day business. There are a lot of bars and restaurants, and some have a certain reputation.
In contrast, Southampton is a gentle city, typical of post-war England. It is somewhat sleepy, with large hotels and corner cafes. There is not much crime, no guns and the worst things that happen are fights between drunks after closing time at the pubs.
So, will you be a steward/ess, an officer, a cook, a passenger or something else aboard ship? Perhaps you will be the landlord/lady of a pub in Southampton, or a resident? You could be a gang leader or member in New York. Or you could make your own occupation.
Whatever you choose, welcome aboard!
Please, please give us a look! I am in desperate need of members, but I am hoping that the activity will be good once a few people join!
